Internship: Santander Consumer USA, Dallas TX

Previous degrees: BE Software engineering, MBA Finance (India), CFA, FRM

Prior to FTEC: IBM India, D.E. Shaw & Co.

I was looking for a masters program that would mesh with my Finance and IT background, so I chose FTEC. The curriculum is structured in a way that it opens different avenues in finance like risk management, financial data analytics, quantitative analyst etc. The unique part of the program is that it is aligned with emerging technologies like block chain. The program also sponsors students to attend professional conferences like the EmTech Summit, IBM/CFSI blockchain event.

They organize roundtable discussions weekly seminar sessions that allow students to have one-on-one interactions with industry professionals. During our summer term, we were given opportunity to work on real world corporate projects which gave us a preview of what we could expect in our future careers. The program directors are always ready to help students, be it arranging mock interviews, doing resume critique or organizing workshops to help students improve their communication skills. If you are looking for a program with a more quantitative approach to finance, I would recommend FTEC.
