Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Finance can prepare for certain career paths by choosing a specialized concentration. Each concentration includes core courses plus concentration electives. Please note that students can earn their Bachelor of Science in Finance degree without choosing a concentration.

Students who choose the financial technology (“FinTech”) concentration combine knowledge in finance, real estate or risk management with programming and data analytics. Students who complete this concentration should be equipped with the skills increasingly demanded by the marketplace today.

Students can pursue a BS in Finance without specializing in a specific area. The Financial Management concentration offers maximum flexibility, allowing students to choose from a wide range of upper-division finance courses as guided electives instead of following a fixed concentration track. This option provides a well-rounded foundation in various finance disciplines while enabling students to tailor their coursework to their interests and career goals.

Students who choose this concentration focus on the skills necessary to manage the financial problems of a firm. Roles typically include investment decisions, funding and capital structuring. Students completing this concentration pursue careers as corporate financial analysts, consultants, private equity capitalists, etc.

The Investment concentration equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to analyze financial markets, manage investment portfolios and assess asset valuation. The courses specific to this concentration cover key topics, such as equity and fixed-income securities, derivatives, portfolio management and financial risk analysis. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in asset management, investment banking, financial advisory and related fields.
