Like many of the other students, I sought out UT Dallas for my MBA due to its reputation, it being close to home and having flexible programs. In doing so, I also wanted to make sure I stretched outside of what I had done as an undergrad by diving into topics I found more interesting and useful. The Real Estate Program at UTD was definitely one of the best ways to do this.

In starting a graduate program, I came to find that several other students strongly recommended Real Estate classes for electives. Given a genuine interest in Real Estate for various reasons, I easily took the advice and am glad I did so. I gained more insight into Real Estate than I ever could have fathomed. Not only that, but I found that the professors were incredibly knowledgeable and well connected in the industry. Their personal stories and accounts from working in Real Estate were not only intriguing and animated, but let you know they genuinely enjoyed their work and wanted to help students find the same level of satisfaction. Additionally, the Real Estate Club also created a welcoming environment for networking with fellow students and industry leaders through various functions and events they hosted.

If I have any advice to give, it would be to make sure you give the Real Estate Program at UTD a try, or at a minimum take the Intro course. You will gain practical and usable knowledge that you can use in your career as well as everyday life. I am not working directly in the Real Estate industry; however, I really like the fact I feel well-armed for a Real Estate career path if I choose, let alone purchase, inherit, or invest in property with some idea of knowing what I am doing. Give it a try, you’ll be glad you did.

After 10 years of work experience, I decided to take the GMAT and pursue an MBA. I evaluated my options for an Executive MBA program at UTD and other institutions, but ultimately decided to pursue the Professional Flex MBA program at UTD for the value and flexibility it provided. Business travel was a part of my career, so the flexibility to take one online course and one in person course per semester allowed me to fit the MBA into my life.   Read More
